This is a family of time-to-digital converters (TDCs), ideal to measure time differences between electrical pulses in particle detection, microscopy, and quantum optics experiments.

Tausand Tempico TP1004 has a common start input, 4 independent stop inputs, and an optional gate input. It measures the elapsed time between the start and each of the stops, with a resolution of 56ps. Start-stop times may be in the range from 12ns to 4ms.

Some of its adjustable settings are:

  • input voltage threshold from 0.9V to 1.6V.
  • Multi-cycle averaging, from 1 to 128 averaging cycles.
  • Multiple stops on the same input: 1 to 5.
  • Measures on rising or falling edges.

Inputs use SMA connectors coupled at 50 ohm, accepting digital signals with high-levels from 1.0V up to 5V.
